AZ Exotic Bird Rescue

Become A Volunteer

As a non-profit, AZ Exotic Bird Rescue relies on good people like you to help keep things running. Our amazing volunteers are the backbone of our operation and work hard to ensure our birds are happy, healthy, and given the attention they need. Read below to learn more about what our volunteers do and how to get involved.

Volunteering At The Rescue

As a non-profit, The AZ Exotic Bird Rescue relies on support from volunteers to help keep things running smoothly and to ensure that each bird receives the attention it deserves. While there is plenty of time to interact and play with the residents, being a volunteer also means you’ll be responsible for helping with some of the harder tasks that come with bird ownership. These tasks include cleaning cages, sweeping and vacuuming, mopping the floors, moving cages, and refilling food and water.

Once these essential tasks are done and the birds have clean living spaces, then we encourage our volunteers to spend time handling and interacting with the residents. We especially want our volunteers to work with birds who are new to the rescue so they can get used to human contact and have a better chance at adoption.

Don't have the ability to volunteer? Here are other ways you can support our birds:

How To Get Started

To volunteer at the rescue, we suggest you start by calling us at 480-535-4999 and asking if we are currently still accepting new volunteers. If we have spots available, then you’ll need to download and complete our Volunteer Application Form. Once completed, you can drop the form off at the rescue where it will be reviewed by our staff.

If you are accepted, we will reach out to you and let you know when to come in for training. You can find a copy of the Volunteer Application Form below.
