As a non-profit, The AZ Exotic Bird Rescue relies on support from volunteers to help keep things running smoothly and to ensure that each bird receives the attention it deserves. While there is plenty of time to interact and play with the residents, being a volunteer also means you’ll be responsible for helping with some of the harder tasks that come with bird ownership. These tasks include cleaning cages, sweeping and vacuuming, mopping the floors, moving cages, and refilling food and water.
Once these essential tasks are done and the birds have clean living spaces, then we encourage our volunteers to spend time handling and interacting with the residents. We especially want our volunteers to work with birds who are new to the rescue so they can get used to human contact and have a better chance at adoption.
